The Florida BrAIve Helpline system for veterans of the
wars in Afghanistan and Iraq and their families, will serve the entire
state of Florida utilizing one toll‐free 800 number (1-877-BrAIve-8) to
connect to a live crisis counselor 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
Based on where the caller would like assistance, the call will be
immediately forwarded to one of four Regional 2‐1‐1 Network Centers in
Florida that also serve as Crisis Centers for the National Suicide
Prevention Lifeline network. A second component will be an online
searchable BrAIve database of services for veterans of the wars in
Afghanistan and Iraq and their families. The database will be supported
by the entire 2‐1‐1 Network Centers to assure that veteran specific
community‐based programs are included and kept up‐to‐date. The third
component includes follow‐up and advocacy services to veterans of the
wars in Afghanistan and Iraq and their families coordinated by the four
Regional 2‐1‐1 Network Centers with assistance from the other 2‐1‐1
Network Centers Satellite Centers. The last component will be the
distribution of BrAIve marketing materials by the Regional and Satellite
2‐1‐1 Network Centers in the BRAIVE Fund Initiatives North and
Southeastern regions of Florida.
This Florida BrAIve Helpline System project is funded by three
foundations: Dade Community Foundation, The Community Foundation in
Jacksonville and Gulf Coast Community Foundation of Venice in Southwest
Florida. For more information about the Florida BrAIve Project, please
